Elon Musk was appointed by Donald Trump as the head of the Government Efficiency Department, where he aims to reduce federal agencies and direct resources more efficiently. He intends to analyze and reduce the 428 federal agencies to 99 to optimize responsibilities.

The DOGE, under Musk's leadership, will operate externally alongside the White House and the Office of Management and Budget to reform the government with a business-like approach, without the need for Senate approval. Musk will continue to lead Tesla, SpaceX, and X.

Musk joins forces with Vivek Ramaswamy to advocate for budget cuts in federal agencies. Automotive regulation and overregulation in the U.S. are central points in their work. He seeks to cut $2 trillion from the federal budget before July 4, 2026.
