Last week, the number of applications for unemployment benefits in the USA decreased, continuing the recovery of the labor market in the country.

The economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic are evidently visible in the labor market, however, the decrease in the number of applications indicates some improvement in the situation. Approximately 376,000 people applied for benefits last week, which is 9,000 fewer than the week before.

"These data testify to the ongoing weakening of the impact of the pandemic on the labor market," noted an economist from one of the American exchanges.

On the other hand, the continuing rise in the number of COVID-19 cases and the introduction of new measures to combat the spread of the virus may bring new challenges for the labor market in the United States.
