Mexican migrant families led detentions in the US. This is due to the change in US immigration policy in 2025. According to US Customs and Border Protection data, Mexico surpassed Venezuela, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala in this regard. In a year and a half, 26,952 pieces of firearms were seized, double the amount in the previous 18 months under President AMLO. It is also reported that an international network is accused of attempting to supply the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) with military hardware, such as missiles and anti-aircraft systems. President Sheinbaum has doubled the seizure of firearms coming from the US.
