The elected president of the United States, Donald Trump, has confirmed the appointment of Elon Musk as part of his cabinet. Musk, owner of X and Tesla, will join the government for a year and a half, with the expectation that his work will conclude "at the latest by July 4, 2026." Trump announced on Tuesday that the magnate will lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) along with former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, in order to eliminate waste and massive fraud.
According to the president, Musk had already contacted the Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation, Federico Sturzenegger, to implement measures similar to those carried out in Argentina. Trump aims to dismantle government bureaucracy, reduce excessive regulations, cut unnecessary spending, and restructure federal agencies. His goal is to improve the efficiency of federal bureaucracy while seeking an improvement in the quality of life for American citizens.
In his words, Trump stated: "I expect them to make changes in federal bureaucracy aimed at efficiency, while simultaneously improving the lives of all Americans. We will eliminate the waste and massive fraud that exists throughout our annual public spending of $6.5 trillion." Following the confirmation of his appointment, Musk warned that this will cause upheavals throughout the system and among those involved in government waste, emphasizing the magnitude of the problem.
Both will work together to free the economy and ensure that the government of the United States is held accountable for its actions.
