Trump Reiterates Plan to Acquire Greenland

President of the United States Donald Trump reiterated this Sunday that the United States will acquire Greenland, a Danish territory, "one way or another." According to Xinhua agency, aboard Air Force One, Trump said he was not considering a lease or short-term agreements, but rather to "acquire" the territory. When asked if this would harm NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), the head of state responded: "If it affects NATO, and it affects NATO, but you know, they need us much more than we need them." Meanwhile, the leaders of Greenland's main political parties issued a strong joint statement last Friday titled "We stand together as a people," rejecting Trump's statements about a possible acquisition of the island. Leaders of Greenland reject Donald Trump's claims: "We don't want to be Americans".
