Billionaire Warren Buffett announced his retirement from the position of CEO of Berkshire Hathaway by the end of this year. However, he will remain as the chairman of the board of directors. At the annual meeting of the company's shareholders on May 3, Buffett emphasized the importance of choosing work that brings satisfaction and working with people you respect and can learn from. He also drew attention to the fact that the people surrounding you can have a significant influence on your success.
Buffett stated: "It's not worth too much to get caught up in the starting salary; it's better to focus on those you work with, as you'll tend to mimic the behaviors of the people around you. Certain positions exist that you shouldn't agree to." He also expressed the opinion that one should seek out people with whom it is pleasant to work, as working with different people contributes to achieving success.
Buffett stressed the importance of choosing work that evokes positive emotions and working with those who inspire and teach. He noted that it's worth avoiding situations where surroundings engage in nonsense and not to get fixated on earnings grounded in risky investments. Buffett believes it's better to focus on one's strengths and learn from smart people in one's environment.
Buffett urged the youth to create successful companies, but warned against unnecessary risks in achieving that goal. His work with stocks and a long-term investment strategy has made him one of the richest people in the world, with assets amounting to approximately $160 billion. Under his leadership, Berkshire Hathaway transformed from a financially troubled company into one of the largest conglomerates in the USA, and by 2024 its market value is expected to reach three trillion dollars.
