President of the USA Donald Trump stated that the planned tariffs exceed 2.5%. He expressed such intentions with the aim to protect American workers and companies from foreign competitors.
Trump emphasized that the administration of his predecessor inflicted a 'horrible blow' to American industry and workers. He added that the USA has the right to impose high tariffs on goods from other countries, and that, in his view, this could lead to the creation of a 'great equilibrium'.
'I think that the rate would be above 2.5%... We are indeed striving to protect our people,' said Donald Trump.
