Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testified before Congress, denying she knew Jeffrey Epstein or his crimes. She accused the Republican committee of attempting to distract from Donald Trump's activities.

Hillary Clinton Denies Knowing Epstein

Bill Clinton acknowledges making several trips in the early 2000s on Epstein's private plane for philanthropic reasons, but denies being aware of the magnate's crimes. Hillary Clinton, for her part, states she did not know Epstein but admits to having met his accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, sentenced to 20 years in prison, on several occasions at Clinton Foundation events. Hillary Clinton denied before Congress that she knew Jeffrey Epstein or his crimes. She emphasized that she had 'no idea about the criminal activities' of the financier, who died in prison in 2019. Clinton called the Epstein case 'a tragedy' and 'a scandal' that deserves 'a thorough investigation,' but denounced that the committee has not called the truly implicated individuals to testify. 'Instead, you have asked me to testify, knowing that I have no knowledge useful to your investigation, with the aim of distracting from President Trump's activities and covering him up despite the legitimate demand for answers,' she said. The closed-door testimony, taking place in Chappaqua, New York, where the Clintons reside, occurs one day before the former president is also scheduled to appear there. Although the Clintons initially refused to testify before Congress, the threat of being held in contempt led the former presidential couple to agree to appear to explain their ties to Epstein. 'I do not recall ever meeting Mr. Epstein. I never flew on his plane or visited his island, his homes, or his offices,' she stated.
