
American Airlines reported that flight 5342 from its regional subsidiary, American Eagle, traveling from Wichita, Kansas, to Washington D.C., experienced an accident near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). There were 60 passengers and four crew members on board.
The company expressed its cooperation with authorities in emergency response efforts and provided a toll-free hotline for the families of the flight's passengers to contact the company. At the accident site, along the Potomac River, a significant emergency response was deployed, including ambulances, fire trucks, police cars, and helicopters for search and rescue operations.
The airline emphasized that they are actively monitoring the situation and are prepared to support local emergency personnel. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated that all available resources from the U.S. Coast Guard are being utilized. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump publicly thanked emergency personnel for their work and expressed his wish for blessings for those involved in the incident.
"We care about the passengers and crew aboard the aircraft," the company stated. In light of the situation, transportation for affected individuals is being coordinated through public buses to provide assistance during the incident.
