Tragic aviation accident in Washington

Rescue teams, police, and firefighters are currently working in the area where a passenger plane collided in the air with a military helicopter and fell into the Potomac River in Washington. Helicopters equipped with spotlights are flying over the area searching for remains of the aircraft while it was reported from the White House that President Donald Trump has been notified about the situation.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night when American Eagle flight 5342, operated by PSA Airlines, was approaching runway 33 at Ronald Reagan National Airport. The aircraft, a Bombardier CRJ700, had departed from Wichita, Kansas. So far, the number of people on board has not been confirmed, nor has there been any information about casualties.

After the accident, all operations at the airport were suspended, and an emergency response was deployed. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that the collision was with a Sikorsky H-60 helicopter from the U.S. Army. Both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched an investigation to clarify the events and determine the causes of the tragic incident.
