Trump Faces Backlash Over Controversial Comments

The Republican Party president criticized comedian Hinchcliffe's comments regarding Puerto Rico, sparking outrage among Puerto Rican leaders. Voters in Allentown express serious concerns about Trump's remarks, potentially impacting his support in the upcoming elections.

Trump Faces Backlash Over Controversial Comments

The president of the Republican Party of Puerto Rico described the recent monologue by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe as a "poor attempt at comedy," considering it shameful, ignorant, and completely reprehensible. On the other hand, in Pennsylvania, where Trump planned to campaign, the population of Latino voters has experienced notable growth since the year 2000.

During an interview with ABC News, Trump denied knowing Hinchcliffe and stated that he had not heard the comments that sparked the controversy. However, the outrage from Puerto Rican leaders was immediate, with the Archbishop of Puerto Rico urging Trump to reject such expressions.

Angelo Ortega, a former Republican resident of Allentown, expressed his dismay over the comments at Trump's rally, stating that he knows Hispanic Republican voters who will change their vote in favor of Harris after this incident. Lydia Maldonado, an attendee at the event, defended the former president, pointing out that it was not he who made the offensive comment about Puerto Rico.

The Harris campaign launched an ad aimed at Puerto Rican voters in key states, highlighting Hinchcliffe's comments. A week before the elections, Trump's allies expressed concern about the impact of this controversy on the campaign's closing.

In an attempt to divert attention, Trump focused his criticisms on Harris during an event where he accused his rival of running an "absolute hate campaign." Despite the criticism received, Trump did not directly criticize Hinchcliffe's comments and instead chose to praise the supposed love present at the controversial rally.
