The Automated Ball/Strike System (ABS) will be introduced as a challenge system where the human umpire makes every call, which can be appealed to the computer. The automated system has been tested in the minor leagues since 2019, with recent tests in Triple-A since 2022, in MLB spring training last year, and at the 2025 All-Star Game in Atlanta.
