The United States and the EU have called on Mediterranean coastal states to participate in the diversion efforts. The EU and the US have concluded an agreement to combat water pollution and diversify their resources. This was announced during the second Ministerial Forum of the Global Plastic Action Partnership in the Mediterranean Sea. Actions taken by Mediterranean countries to address plastic pollution were discussed at the forum. In addition, a connection was made to the recent 'Data 0' initiative.
