Kamala Harris Unveils Latino Opportunity Agenda

The Vice President of the United States and Democratic presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, will announce on Tuesday an agenda dedicated to helping Latinos achieve the 'American Dream'. The 'opportunity agenda for Latino men', according to Harris's campaign, aims to reduce costs, increase homeownership, expand job opportunities, and ensure that Latino men and their families achieve their aspirations.

Among the measures proposed by the Democratic candidate are the elimination of degree requirements for Latinos without a college degree in 500,000 federal jobs, increased funding for Latinos starting businesses with loans of up to $20,000, and facilitating home purchases by building more affordable housing, among other initiatives.

The agenda will be presented in an interview with Telemundo, and Kamala Harris's campaign criticizes former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump, accusing him of not caring about Latino men and their families. It is pointed out that Trump has used fear and hatred when referring to Latino men, turning them into targets of hate and violence.

Donald Trump has made controversial statements about Latinos, such as in 2016 when he claimed that Mexicans were sending 'drugs' and 'rapists' to the United States. In the current election campaign, he compared migrants to the fictional character Hannibal Lecter. Such comments have led the majority of counties with Hispanic populations to vote for the Democratic Party in the 2020 elections.

Despite this, in key states like Texas and Florida, Republicans have increased their support, reaching 38% backing from Latinos for Trump, ten points more than in 2016, according to Pew Research Center data.
