The State of Democracy in the US: A Critical View

In a recent article, Alex Lo critiques the state of American democracy, highlighting the shortcomings of presidential candidates and the media's role in shaping political discourse. Lo's perspective raises questions about the effectiveness and accountability of American leadership.

The State of Democracy in the US: A Critical View

It is possible that this has become the reason why many people all over the world do not listen to what the United States says. In the upcoming elections taking place next month, special attention is being paid to two American presidential candidates: former president Donald Trump and current vice president Kamala Harris. They are considered 'ideal leaders' of the election cycle because they are the most 'noisy' ones.

However, these are just symptoms, results of what may arise in a country where the media control everything that is produced in the political culture, as in the USA. From candidates to the presidency, they are expected to be able to read the text and respond to the questions prepared for them. Short news stories form the basis of the system, it is not a deficit. One can be assured that there exist those who understand the actual questions, develop policies, and shape social messages, but you do not actually know them.

Politicians from the USA prefer to criticize China, accusing it of undermining democracy and tyranny all over the world, but this is incorrect.

It is possible, China's experience can offer something to other small countries, although it has never been established that it can be applied globally. This is far from propaganda or the imposition of its ideology on the rest of the world, in contrast to what the USA does, promoting and imposing its version of 'democracy' on smaller and weaker countries, often with applied force, over the course of more than a century.

Thus, today’s American leaders are dismantling their political system, they are less accountable to voters than ever before, and this is not a mistake of China. If this proposed form of American democracy happens, it is possible that the United States presents the world with a poor service, providing itself as a great defender of democracy.

As for Harris, she had the audacity to complain that her interview was 'exceedingly aggressive.' When asked about the situation in Ukraine, her answer reflected an attention to childish statements, invoking a wide-ranging negative response. In this, she expressed respect for Muslims, Christians, and Hindus, noting that Russia decided to start a war with a small country named Ukraine, which in her opinion is a fundamental mistake.
