The View Co-Hosts Accuse US Vice President's Wife of Abandoning Principles for Power

Co-hosts of the talk show The View, Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar, sharply criticized the wife of the US Vice President, Usha Vance. They accused her of changing her beliefs, as a Hindu, for her husband's political career. This scandal erupted after Usha's recent interview, in which she stated she has remained true to herself since 2014 and has not changed her views.

The View Co-Hosts Accuse US Vice President's Wife of Abandoning Principles for Power

Sharp remarks and criticism have sparked widespread debate in American media. The co-hosts of 'The View' Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar attacked the wife of US Vice President Usha Vance, accusing her of abandoning her principles for power. This came just one day after her appearance on 'Today Show', where her remarks drew attention. In the episode aired on March 31, Hostin and Behar launched a scathing attack on 40-year-old Usha Vance, considering that she had sacrificed her principles and personal convictions for power. While Hostin pointed out the religious differences between Usha and her husband J.D. Vance, Behar described Usha as a 'hypocrite'. When Hostin asked her if she believed Usha had completely changed her beliefs for her husband, Behar replied that what drives her is an 'addiction to power'. This escalation followed a recent television interview with Usha that left the 'Today Show' host flustered due to an unexpected comment. Hostin reminded viewers of J.D. Vance's earlier statements at an event organized by 'Turning Point USA' at the University of Mississippi, where he spoke about his wife's religion (Hinduism), expressing his hope that she would one day share his Christian faith. In turn, Usha had previously stated that she had no intention of changing her religion, which Hostin found difficult to accept in what she described as the 'existential crisis' the United States is going through, stressing the need for couples' values to align in such circumstances. During the discussion, Behar pointed to what she described as major changes in the American political landscape, expressing her surprise that some people were abandoning their previous convictions for influence or money. When the possibility was raised that Usha may have acted in order to support her husband's political ambitions, Behar agreed with this opinion, adding that she is also seeking the privileges associated with power. Hostin also saw Usha's actions as conflicting with her background, noting that she is a lawyer and a Yale graduate who used to lead an independent life before, as she put it, it suddenly changed. In contrast, American comedian Whoopi Goldberg defended Usha, arguing that she has many responsibilities and pressures, especially as her due date approaches, pointing out that pregnancy is not easy and that her personal circumstances should be taken into account. In an interview with NBC's 'Today Show', Usha Vance confirmed that she had never been pressured to change herself, emphasizing that she has been the same person since 2014. She added that she does not feel the need to pretend or take positions that are not in line with her convictions, explaining that her views may sometimes intersect with different currents and at other times be her own. Goldberg commented on the controversy, saying that such issues escalate over time, stressing that everyone has their own life and is trying their best, and that she holds no anger toward a woman who seeks to live her life her way. Usha also spoke about her daily life, mentioning that she sometimes attracts attention while shopping in simple clothes, but most of the time she can move around freely without being recognized. She noted that she frequents local stores and has a membership at Costco, which surprised the show's host, Kate Snow. It should be recalled that Usha Vance, a lawyer and mother of three, is expecting her fourth child, after announcing her pregnancy in January, while the debate over her role and stance in her husband's political life continues.
