Trump Again Claims U.S. Elections Are Rigged

New York, Feb 8 (EFE).- U.S. President Donald Trump insisted again on Sunday that U.S. elections are 'rigged' and 'fraudulent' as he prepares to campaign for the upcoming November 3 midterm elections. 'U.S. elections are rigged, they are fraudulent and are a laughingstock around the world. We either fix this or we will cease to be a country,' the president assured in his Truth Social post. In the post, Trump called on Republicans to fight for all voters to show their ID and proof of U.S. citizenship, and for no mail-in votes to be accepted except for illness, disability, military service, or travel. On Thursday, the president had already urged Republicans in Congress to pass the 'SAVE America' Act, a bill pushed by his party that would tighten voting requirements for this year's elections, amid new unproven accusations of alleged electoral fraud. The president demanded that Republican legislators fight for measures such as voter ID requirements, citizenship proof for registration, and severe restrictions on mail-in voting. Previously, in an interview with NBC, he claimed without providing evidence that some states might not be counting votes correctly. The November 3 elections, in which Congress will be renewed, are key for the president, as the narrow majority that Republicans hold in Congress is at stake. The Republican recently announced that he will travel weekly across the country to campaign for these elections.
