The U.S. Department of Justice stated in a press release that Shannon Mathery, of Toledo, Ohio, is accused of threatening to kill Vice President Vance and cause him bodily harm. U.S. Secret Service agents arrested Mathery last Friday. A representative for Mathery could not be immediately reached. The charge of threatening to kill the vice president carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. A federal grand jury has indicted a 33-year-old man on charges of threatening to kill U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance. According to the Justice Department, Mathery said, 'I'll find out where he (the vice president) is and I'll use my M14 automatic rifle to kill him.' This statement has caused a public outcry.
