Professor Norman Finkelstein, an author and Middle East scholar, knows better than anyone how to interpret the international action of the United Nations regarding Palestine and Israel. In an interview with Chris Hedges, Finkelstein states that the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2803(2025) was 'at once a revelation of moral insolvency and a declaration of war on Gaza.' He argues that the resolution abolished 70 years of UN history, handing Gaza over to Donald J. Trump. Finkelstein highlights that the resolution legitimizes the ethnonationalist and imperialist objectives of Israel and the United States and delegitimizes the sanctity of international law. He also criticizes the international community for its failure to intervene, stating that Israel is blocking any humanitarian aid and reconstruction, while Palestinians are left to survive in primitive and inhumane conditions. Finkelstein calls for the recovery of the right to freedom of speech as the most powerful weapon in the current struggle.
