President of the USA Donald Trump stated in an interview with NBC News on Sunday that his administration intends to consider banning the Chinese application TikTok based on national security concerns. Trump also stated that American companies should possibly look to acquire TikTok. At the same time, he indicated that a ban on the application is not ruled out.
"Instead of banning it, I will allow the continuation of TikTok's operations in the United States if one of the American companies can acquire it. If this happens, it would really be surprising. You simply do not keep it under the control of China, and you will not place it under the control of another, possibly even a more severe regime," Trump said.
At the beginning of July, U.S. senators passed a bill that presupposes a ban on the use of applications from Chinese companies on government devices. Now, the decision about the TikTok lawsuit lies on the shoulders of the Trump administration, which "is studying this issue very thoroughly" at present.
