The President of the United States, Donald Trump, expressed his hope that Russia would agree to a 30-day ceasefire following a high-level meeting between the delegations of the United States and Ukraine in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Trump, outside the White House, briefly commented on the ceasefire announcement, mentioning that Ukraine accepted it and expressing his desire for Russia to do the same.

In statements to reporters, Trump mentioned that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, would be welcome back at the White House. Additionally, during a promotional event for Tesla, the U.S. president indicated that he plans to talk to Vladimir Putin about the ceasefire proposal, adding the phrase 'it takes two to tango'.

Previously, the Trump administration had announced the suspension of arms delivery to Ukraine and the interruption of intelligence information sharing after an intense meeting with Zelensky in the Oval Office more than a week ago. However, after the meeting of delegations in Jeddah, a joint statement was issued announcing that Washington would lift the pause on intelligence information sharing and resume security assistance to Ukraine.
