Trump Reports Significant Drop in Border Crossings

President Trump announced a sharp decrease in border crossings for February, claiming the 'invasion' of immigrants has ended, reflecting a 94% drop in arrests compared to February 2024.

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced a significant decrease in border crossings during February, the first full month of his term. Trump stated that, according to yet unofficial data provided by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), 8,326 arrests were made of individuals who crossed the border illegally. This figure represents a 94% reduction compared to February 2024, when 140,641 detentions occurred under Joe Biden's administration.

"This means that very few people came - The invasion of our country is OVER," Trump expressed in a post on his platform Truth Social. Since taking office on January 20, Trump has maintained a firm stance on immigration, promising to carry out mass deportations of migrants whom he often labels as "criminals." It is estimated that more than 11 million people reside in the United States without legal status, many of whom have been in the country for decades and represent a significant part of the workforce.

Additionally, Trump has implemented measures such as the militarization of the border, conducting raids at various points across the country, revoking immigration benefits for various nationalities, and the agreement with Caracas to resume deportation flights to Venezuela. These policies have been part of his strategy to combat irregular immigration and strengthen border control.

In a context marked by his controversial decisions on immigration, Trump celebrated the reduction in arrests at the border as an achievement in his fight against what he terms an "invasion" of migrants into the country.
