Major Drug Traffickers Extradited to the US

A recent operation led to the extradition of 29 drug traffickers from Mexico to the US, with key figures from various cartels included.


Major Drug Traffickers Extradited to the US

The Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) and the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) reported on the extradition of several leaders of Mexican drug trafficking cartels to the United States. Among those extradited are José Rodolfo Villarreal Hernández, alias 'Gato,' operations chief of the Beltrán Leyva Cartel, who was sent to Houston, Texas for drug trafficking.

In the same operation, Evaristo Cruz Sánchez, alias 'El Vaquero,' regional leader of the Gulf Cartel, and José Alberto García Vilano, alias 'La Kena,' leader of the Los Ciclones group in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, were also extradited. Both were also facing charges for drug trafficking.

For his part, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Díaz, alias 'Alfa Metro,' regional leader of the 'Los Zetas' cartel, was sent to Texas for drug trafficking and money laundering offenses. Alder Alfonso Marín Sotelo, wanted for homicide in North Carolina, was also extradited to McKinney, Texas.

Lucio Hernández Lechuga, alias 'Z-100' and/or 'El Lucky,' regional leader of Los Zetas in Veracruz, Oaxaca, and Puebla, was sent to the United States for his criminal activities. Additionally, other leaders such as Ramiro Pérez Moreno, alias 'El Rama,' and José Ángel Canobbio Inzunza, alias 'El Güerito,' were also extradited to Chicago, Illinois, for drug trafficking and criminal association.

The FGR reported that Rafael Caro Quintero, boss of the Guadalajara Cartel, was also extradited and transferred to a court in New York, where he will join Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada. In total, 29 people, including drug traffickers like Caro Quintero, were extradited to the United States for their links to criminal organizations and accusations of drug trafficking.

In addition to those mentioned, Vicente Carrillo Fuentes, known as 'El Viceroy' and leader of the Juárez Cartel, was also sent to New York as part of this extradition operation.
