Federal Employees Resign in Protest Against DOGE

More than 20 federal employees of the United States, belonging to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) led by Elon Musk, have submitted their resignations in protest against what they consider harmful actions for citizens. The employees, from the United States Digital Service which is now part of DOGE, are technology professionals and have expressed their disagreement with the transition and actions of the agency.

In a letter addressed to the chief of staff of President Donald Trump, Susan Wiles, which was shared with EFE, the signing employees argue that they will not use their technological skills to compromise the security of the government's internal systems, expose sensitive data of citizens, or dismantle essential public services. They believe that DOGE's decisions contradict their mission to modernize federal technologies to increase government efficiency and productivity.

Furthermore, the employees report that the integration process of the former Digital Service into DOGE has posed security risks, mentioning interviews where political loyalty was questioned and layoffs of key technology staff, leading to a loss of critical knowledge and jeopardizing the security of the population's data.

Regarding the refusal of DOGE employees to accept the deferred layoff program that many other federal workers have adhered to, they expressed their support for those who decided to continue with their work. Recently, Elon Musk has ordered federal employees to report their activities daily via email, a request that agencies like the FBI have indicated to their staff not to comply with.
