The White House sent a controversial message for Valentine's Day to those attempting to illegally cross into the United States. The Trump administration shared an image related to Valentine's Day on its social media, featuring the faces of Trump and border chief Tom Homan, along with a message directed at migrants: 'Roses are red, violets are blue, come here illegally and we will deport you.'
The U.S. Presidency added a 'Happy Valentine's Day' to its message. Since Trump took office, he has vowed to carry out the largest deportation of migrants in the country’s history. Tom Homan is responsible for implementing this policy, which has resulted in increased military presence at the U.S.-Mexico border, as well as arrests of migrants in places like schools and churches.
Additionally, military planes have begun to be used to repatriate individuals who are in the U.S. without legal status. Some migrants have been sent to the Guantanamo Naval Base in Cuba, set up by the U.S. to detain suspected terrorists following the 9/11 attacks. It has been said that the 'worst' criminals and gang members are sent there.
Since Trump took office, more than 13,000 migrants have been deported to Mexico. The Government of Mexico reported receiving 13,455 deported migrants since the new U.S. administration began, including 2,970 foreigners. In a humanitarian approach, Mexico is welcoming non-Mexicans and allowing them to decide whether they wish to stay in the country or return to their home country, noted Claudia Sheinbaum.
