Selena Gomez Faces Deportation Calls Amid Controversy

Selena Gomez has become the target of criticism after spreading a video in which she cries about the difficulties faced by Mexicans in the United States due to the new policies implemented during the Trump administration. In response, a Senate candidate publicly called for the actress and singer's deportation, sparking a controversy that led her to speak out again on social media.

Amid the controversy caused by the film 'Emilia Pérez', Selena Gomez shared a video in which she was visibly emotional, apologizing to the Mexican people: 'Children... don't understand it.' Although the video was deleted shortly after its publication, the artist committed to trying to help in some way.

The Senate candidate in the United States, Sam Parker, joined the controversy by asking for Selena Gomez's deportation in a post on X. In response, the actress replied through her Instagram stories with a strong message directed at the politician: 'Oh Mr. Parker, Mr. Parker. Thank you for the laughs and the threat.'

Selena Gomez's fans came to her defense, recalling that her grandparents arrived in the United States by crossing the border illegally. They also mentioned the documentary she produced on Netflix, 'Living Undocumented', which addresses the difficulties faced by undocumented families residing in the North American country.

In a later moment, the singer explained that her apologies were not related to Jacques Audiard's film, but to Trump's immigration policies that are affecting many people. Selena Gomez concluded her message expressing her sorrow for the situations that so many people are living: 'I want to say I'm so sorry. How many people are being attacked? Thank you for the laugh and the threat.'
