The Impact of Media Manipulation on Politics

The rise of alternative realities and misinformation, fueled by figures like Donald Trump and Alex Jones, threatens the foundations of a healthy democracy. Thousands are affected by policies that prioritize political ambitions over communal welfare, creating a climate of fear and division.

The Impact of Media Manipulation on Politics

The constant presence of Alex Jones on my screen, despite my disdain for him, makes me reflect on the importance of having truthful information in a healthy democracy. Unfortunately, there is currently a brutal struggle to impose lies and manipulate the audience, which seeks to consume what reinforces their prejudices and resentments.

In this context, the election of 77 million Americans brought Donald Trump to power, a figure who embodies the archetype of the ultra-powerful villain willing to destroy everything for his ego and ambitions. The troubling part is that this narrative is not limited to fiction, but has real and painful impacts on society.

Trump has been able to capitalize on new means of communication to spread alternative realities, fake news, and conspiracy theories, deeply resonating with segments of the population threatened by global changes. This conservative phenomenon, supported by technological and energy oligarchies, has found fertile ground in a public that distrusts institutions and embraces an anti-democratic discourse.

Trump's first actions upon returning to power have been marked by arbitrary and destructive decisions, such as threats of mass deportations, abandonment of international commitments, and the elimination of inclusive policies. His disdain for truth and reason has generated a climate of uncertainty and fear among the population.

Trump's communication strategy, based on confrontation and authoritarianism, poses a challenge for those seeking to build consensus and agreements for the benefit of society. His short-sighted vision and lack of empathy for vulnerable sectors reveal a regressive political agenda that undermines progress on crucial issues like climate change, gender diversity, and social inclusion.

In conclusion, Trump's figure represents a threat to the stability and progress of the United States and the entire world. His return to power has resurrected old ghosts and fueled a climate of division and polarization that can only bring negative consequences for democratic coexistence. It is urgent to resist and counteract his exclusionary and destructive policies in favor of a fairer and more equitable future for all.
