Trump's New Immigration Decree: Border Closure

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has signed a decree aimed at stopping the arrival of migrant people, whom he labels as an 'invasion.' This decree, presented on Wednesday, January 22, is considered a 'fulfilled promise' by Trump, as he has expressed concern since 2018 about the impact of illegal migration on the country.

The document establishes a series of measures against migrants that go beyond closing the border, granting authorities the ability to 'protect,' 'repel,' 'repatriate,' and even 'eliminate' those who illegally enter the United States.

The issued order is divided into three axes, each aimed at supporting the closure of the border and the expulsion of migrants, who in certain cases are accused of being 'invaders.'

In the first axis, entry is suspended for people participating in an invasion of the country, establishing that many states have requested protection against migration and have not received it, posing a considerable economic burden on local governments.

The second axis contains instructions for the authorities regarding the closure of the border and restricts the passage of migrants, authorizing several departments to take measures to repel, repatriate, and expel illegal foreigners.

Regarding deportations and the closure of the border, Mexico has announced a program called 'Mexico Embraces You' aimed at providing support and protection to deported migrants, facilitating their reintegration into the country through social benefits and existing programs.

Among the benefits that deported migrants in Mexico will be able to access are social security programs, welfare programs, and housing support, as well as the Bienestar Paisano card, which consists of financial support for those who have been deported from the United States.

In the issued order, Trump reaffirms his commitment to closing the border with Mexico, as he had promised previously, arguing that illegal immigration incurs significant costs for the country and that he will take all necessary measures to address this situation.
