The outgoing President of the United States, Joe Biden, adhered to the tradition started by Ronald Reagan in 1989 by leaving a letter for his successor, Donald Trump. Despite the tense political circumstances during the power transition in 2021, Trump recently revealed the content of the letter at a press conference.
In the letter, Biden wished Trump and his family the best for the next four years and expressed his hope that the White House would provide stability to the United States and the world. The message concluded with a blessing to Trump and the nation, signed by Joe Biden and dated January 20, 2025, the day of Donald Trump's inauguration.
President Trump found the letter on his desk, inside a white envelope with the number 47, symbolizing the presidential order. Although Trump stated that the letter had an inspiring and nice tone, he decided to keep its content private and refused to make it public. The tradition of leaving letters for successors has been a constant in recent decades in the White House, and this time was no exception.
