Trump Dismisses Over 1000 Officials Before Presidency

Just 24 hours after assuming the presidency of the United States, Donald Trump announced that he would fire more than a thousand American officials for not aligning with his vision of government. According to his statements on social media, the Presidential Personnel Office is in the process of identifying and removing presidential appointees from the previous administration that do not fit with his mandate's vision of making America 'great again.'

Among those fired by Donald Trump are chef and humanitarian activist José Andrés, retired General Mark Milley, former State Department official Brian Hook, and former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms.

José Andrés, a renowned Spanish chef, is known for his innovative contributions to cuisine and his activism on humanitarian and human rights issues. He has been a prominent figure in the Democratic Party and a fervent advocate for human rights.

Additionally, the U.S. Department of Justice confirmed the dismissal of judges responsible for overseeing federal immigration courts. Among those removed are Sheila McNulty, Mary Cheng, Jill Anderson, and Lauren Alder Reid.

Regarding the firings, the president appointed Judge Sirce Owen as the interim director of the Executive Office for Immigration Review, who previously served as the chief legal advisor for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement during Trump's first term.

Mark Milley, a retired general and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has played a significant role in military coordination across different administrations in the country. Brian Hook, a diplomat who served as the special representative for Iran in the Joe Biden administration, led efforts to implement maximum pressure policies on Iran. Keisha Lance Bottoms, former mayor of Atlanta, focused on promoting social justice and police reform initiatives during her tenure. Her leadership was recognized during the racial justice protests in 2020.

José Andrés, through his organization WCK, has coordinated volunteer teams to provide rapid and effective assistance to communities during critical times after natural disasters and humanitarian crises. In 2023, he supported those affected by Hurricane Otis in Acapulco by delivering food, water, and essential resources.
