Donald Trump was sworn in as president of the United States for a second time in a ceremony where his wife, Melania Trump, wore a peculiar hat and garments from American designers. After the ceremony, Trump participated in the traditional inaugural lunch. During the event, dishes such as crab cake and sour cream ice cream were served.
According to The Economic Times, the tradition of offering an inaugural lunch in the Statutory Hall of the Capitol dates back to 1897. This year, the venue was decorated with blue floral-patterned tablecloths and featured the painting "American Horizon" by American painter Jane Wilson in the center.
Attendees of the lunch, which included members of Congress and VIPs such as Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, were treated to a three-course menu characterized by authentic American flavors and local wines. The first course consisted of Chesapeake Bay crab cakes, followed by an Omaha Angus beef steak as the main course. The dessert was a frozen apple terrine with sour cream ice cream and salted caramel.
As for beverages, sparkling and red wines from different regions of the United States, such as New Mexico, Virginia, and California, were offered. The entire event was marked by an atmosphere of celebration and tradition that characterizes the presidential inauguration in the country.
