The conflict over the possible shutdown of TikTok in the United States seems to have no end. On January 18, the application stopped functioning in the American country, generating diverse reactions among users. Lupillo Rivera, a well-known singer and platform user, expressed his surprise and sorrow in a video posted on Instagram.
In the video, Rivera, initially with tears in his eyes, informed his followers about TikTok's disappearance. However, he later appeared with his phone in hand and the application open, singing a farewell song. In his post, he thanked his followers for following him on Instagram, indicating that he already missed TikTok.
In light of this situation, some of Lupillo Rivera's followers showed their support, commenting on his post that everyone was experiencing similar emotions. In less than 24 hours, TikTok's service was restored after a 2024 law imposed the sale of the Chinese application to American citizens or, alternatively, the cessation of operations in U.S. territory.
Former President Donald Trump announced his intention to issue an executive order to reverse the possible ban of TikTok in the United States. After a few hours of inactivity, the Chinese company claimed to be in the process of restoring the service. Despite the brief interruption, many users, including Lupillo Rivera, expressed their opinions on this decision, sparking a debate about the application's presence in the country.
