US Predicts More Snow After Above-Average Winter Storm

The US predicts more snow after a winter storm that exceeded historical averages. The National Weather Service (NWS) announced a series of low-pressure systems, also known as 'Clipper' systems, will bring additional snow to the central and eastern United States. These systems follow a recent storm that paralyzed the region and canceled nearly 8,000 flights. The first system will move across the Northeast and New England this morning, leading to lake-effect snow and one to two inches (25-50 millimeters) of snow in areas heavily impacted by Monday's storm. This adds to the snowfall that has exceeded historical averages this winter in nearly 60 cities, including New York, Boston, Cleveland, and Philadelphia. Despite the forecast, commercial aviation is returning to normal, with only 208 flights canceled on Wednesday. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem instructed the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to monitor the impacts of the 'dangerous' storm, which included hurricane-force winds. 'Even after the storm passes, many dangers continue,' Noem commented.
