As a result of unprecedented flooding in almost all areas of the state of Kentucky and many surrounding states, more than 1000 rescue operations were conducted by rescue teams. Since the beginning of the week, over 20 centimeters of rain has fallen in some parts of the state. The state governor, Andy Beshear, reported that hundreds of residents were forced to evacuate flooded areas, while more than 14 thousand homes and businesses remained without electricity, and 17 thousand homes were left without water.

"We are still in the search and rescue stage of this extraordinary situation, and we continue to conduct various operations, and people are in danger," Beshear said at a press conference. The governor stated that 11 people died, nine of them as a result of flooding, and two in the aftermath of road incidents.

Authorities have activated the National Guard in Kentucky with support from air groups from Indiana and Tennessee, and federal search-and-rescue teams from Ohio, Indiana, and Tennessee have also been deployed.
