Melania Trump, the First Lady of the United States, has announced that the White House will resume public visits starting February 25, which were suspended during Donald Trump's inauguration. Both Melania and the president are excited to open their residence to those interested in the extraordinary history of the place.
In a statement released by her office on February 12, Melania expressed: "There is much to learn about the American Presidency, the First Families who have lived here, and the rich history of our nation from a firsthand experience at the White House." This unique opportunity is a tradition they want to maintain.
Since last December, reservations for tours inside the building were suspended due to the presidential transition. Requests to visit the White House must be sent through the representative in Congress of the interested person's state of residence, in the case of U.S. citizens, while foreigners must contact the embassies of their countries.
Self-guided tours usually last 45 minutes and will be available from Tuesday to Thursday from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM, except on federal holidays and other specific dates.
Public tours include visits to rooms in the East Wing such as the Blue Room, the Red Room, and the Green Room, the State Dining Room, the China Room, and a view of the White House Rose Garden. During the tour, Secret Service agents will be present in each room to answer questions about the history and architecture of each space.
