According to Meta experts, the company is working on an option to add music to posts on Threads, its microblogging social network. This feature would extend to WhatsApp, specifically to statuses, thus emulating the dynamic of Instagram Stories.
Currently, Meta is testing the inclusion of music in WhatsApp statuses in its beta versions for a future update. This development comes after a recent agreement between Mark Zuckerberg's company and Universal Music Group, one of the leading music labels worldwide.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, this enhancement will allow WhatsApp users to further personalize their status updates by adding a soundtrack that complements their mood or the moments they wish to share.
Regarding the possibility of adding songs to WhatsApp statuses, some details are highlighted: it is possible to include music in status updates, whether with photos or videos. In the case of a static image, adding music automatically converts it into a 15-second clip.
On the other hand, in video-based statuses, the duration of the track is limited by the length of the clip. In the beta versions for both iOS and Android, it has been observed that users can search for songs or artists from the designated drawing editor for this purpose. For this, they will have access to the song catalog provided by Meta, with tracks extracted from the same library used by Instagram.
