The entry of the new administration of the United States led by President Donald Trump has created a climate of uncertainty that could last during the first three to six months of the year. This scenario, combined with the uncertainty about tariffs, has led the company Prodensa to halt several projects.
In the words of Marcela Cantú Carvajal, Vice President of Finance at Prodensa, during her participation in a panel at the Financial and Tax Outlook event for the 2024-2030 Term of the Mexican Institute of Finance Executives (IMEF): "They are waiting (for the projects) for the final response or the final position of the United States on certain types of sectors."
Cantú Carvajal indicated that the company is waiting but hopes that in the last four months of the year, a change can occur that will unblock the current situation, allowing all halted activity to start to unfold.
The Vice President of Finance also mentioned that the Trump administration is placing special emphasis on issues such as migration, security, fentanyl, and decoupling from China. In response, Prodensa is preparing with hedges, as exchange rate volatility affects the company.
Furthermore, Cantú Carvajal highlighted that they are focusing on what the company can control, seeking to increase productivity and efficiency through the implementation of technology. In this sense, she emphasized: "Although we are in a period of uncertainty, activity will come, but it will be more challenging."
