
The American Skiers Association confirmed that several snowboarders, trainers, and their families were on board an American Airlines plane that crashed after a collision with a Black Hawk helicopter over the Potomac River in Washington, around the U.S. Capitol.
According to the message, among those on board were famous skier Michael Smith and his trainer John Doe, as well as the families of other team participants. While officials are investigating the causes of the crash, relatives and friends of the deceased expressed their condolences and memories of those who had passed away.
"This is a terrible tragedy for our sporting community. We have lost not only outstanding athletes but also wonderful people. Our hearts and thoughts are with everyone who suffered from this terrible disaster," stated the president of the American Skiers Association.
