The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has shared a video showcasing a supposed future reconstruction of Gaza as a Mediterranean tourist destination. In the video, the current situation of the Strip, devastated by conflicts, is visualized, followed by a futuristic version featuring resorts, skyscrapers, and markets for tourists.
The audiovisual material also includes images of Elon Musk, Trump's advisor, enjoying the city's beach, local food, and throwing bills into the air while dancers perform belly dance. Additionally, scenes of Trump himself in a nightclub and resting in a hammock in what appears to be a hotel alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are presented.
The images give rise to the idea that Gaza could be transformed into "Trump Gaza Number 1," a project announced after a surprise meeting between Trump and Netanyahu where the possibility of the United States taking control of Gaza and relocating its more than two million inhabitants to turn the enclave into a "Middle Eastern Riviera" was discussed.
Subsequently, it has been reported that Saudi Arabia will host a meeting of Arab countries to discuss Trump's proposal regarding Gaza. This meeting aims to address a possible "joint Arab action" concerning the situation in the region. Arab nations have expressed criticism of Trump's suggestion to relocate the Palestinians from Gaza and develop the area under U.S. control.
