US President Donald Trump fired the chairperson of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, and announced the dismissal of five other senior officials in an unusual reshuffle at the American military leadership. The US Department of Defense reported that Trump also dismissed Lisa France, commander of the Marine Corps, and a deputy chief of staff.
Trump stated that the appointment of General-Lieutenant Dan Razen Kin to the position of the next leader is effective. Kin, a former F-16 pilot, previously held the position of deputy director of the central intelligence agency for military affairs until the end of last year.
