Trump Proposes Control of Gaza for Economic Development

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, where he expressed his plan to transform the Gaza Strip into a tourist destination called "Middle East Riviera" with the aim of clearing the geographic area and avoiding future military conflicts. This proposal would involve relocating over a million Palestinians elsewhere.

At a joint press conference, Trump stated: "I don’t want to be a joker or a smart aleck, but the Middle East Riviera… This could be so magnificent." Despite the enthusiasm of the U.S. president, Palestinian authorities and global powers expressed their disagreement with Trump's future plans, especially regarding the forced displacement of populations.

President Trump pointed out that the United States would take care of the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, proposing the clearing of unexploded explosives, the demolition of damaged buildings, and the creation of economic development that generates jobs and housing for local inhabitants. This approach would imply total control of the area by the United States, which has generated controversy and rejection from Palestinian figures like Izzat el-Reshiq of Hamas and powers like China.

In the context of these statements, Trump considered the possibility of displacing and relocating the current Palestinian population from the Gaza Strip, an idea that has generated criticism and opposition in the international community. While countries like Australia, Spain, and France advocate for a two-state solution, Trump's proposal regarding the future of Gaza raises important debates and disagreements in the current geopolitical scenario.
