An odd and tragic event unfolded when a man hid his father's body in a refrigerator, located in the backyard of his home for many years, to continue receiving pension checks in his name. The police in Arizona received a report on October 22 that 51-year-old Joseph Hill Jr. was possibly hiding the body on his property.
Initially, Joseph refused to allow police access to the refrigerator, which, as later revealed, was covered with blankets and a tarp and had not been connected to electricity for several months.
According to Hill, his father died at home four years ago, and he bought the refrigerator to store the body. He also mentioned that he planned to bury his father in the ground or in the desert, but he never did so out of fear of losing his home, built in the 1960s.
At the same time, Hill continued to receive pension checks in his father's name until last year. Last Tuesday, he was arrested and charged with concealing a body and failing to report a death. He was held on a $25,000 bond in the Maricopa County jail.
