The organizers of the World Championship for Formula 1 announced in a joint statement the admission of Cadillac, supported by General Motors, to the competition in 2026, which makes it the 11th participant. The decision was made after the completion of the necessary sports, technical, and commercial assessment.
President and General Director of the competition Stefan Domenicali stated: "As we mentioned in November, General Motors' obligation to present the Cadillac team in the championship will be an important and positive sign for our sport." He further added: "I want to thank General Motors and W Motorsports for their constructive participation over the past months, and I eagerly await welcoming the team to the championship from 2026, which promises to be another landmark year for Formula 1."
