The elected president of the United States, Donald Trump, has announced that Elon Musk, owner of Tesla and SpaceX, will be assigned to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) along with entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. The mission of this team will be to combat excessive bureaucracy and put an end to overregulation, as part of the "Save America" movement.
In Trump's words, "Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, eliminate excessive regulations, cut unnecessary spending, and restructure federal agencies." The elected president mentioned that the work of Musk and Ramaswamy could become the next "Manhattan Project" of modernity.
Republicans have long pursued the goals of DOGE to drive radical change. The Department of Government Efficiency, according to Trump, will collaborate with the White House and the Office of Management and Budget to implement a large-scale structural reform and adopt an unprecedented business approach in government.
Proposed changes to bureaucracy are estimated to potentially end a "waste and fraud" of $6.5 trillion annually in government spending. The goal is to free the economy and hold the U.S. government accountable to citizens, with a deadline to complete the work set for July 4, 2026, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
In addition to the mentioned appointments, Donald Trump has named Republican Congressman Mike Waltz as White House National Security Advisor, intending to end conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. Other appointments include Mike Huckabee as ambassador to Israel, Kristi Noem as leader of the Department of Homeland Security, Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense, and John Ratcliffe to head the CIA.
