According to information obtained by CNN from two sources in the transition, selected President Donald Trump has appointed Kristi Noem as the new Secretary of the Department of the Interior.
Noem is the first woman to head the Department of the Interior. She is known for her conservative views and decisive position on environmental issues. The Secretary supports the development of the oil and gas industry and calls for a reduction in federal intervention in the use of land for environmental protection purposes.
