US Open to Various Options, Says Blinken

On Thursday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that the United States is open to "various options" regarding its strategy on Afghanistan. He made his remarks at a press conference in Brussels following a meeting with NATO foreign ministers. "We are working on alternative ways to promote our interests and values," Blinken noted.

It is reported that the administration of President Joe Biden is considering the possibility of using diplomatic and economic means to pressure the Taliban to make them adhere to women's rights, including the right to education and work.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated that the administration is not considering the issue of recognizing the Taliban as the government of Afghanistan.
