The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated this Wednesday that the conflict with Iran "is nearing its end," and justified his military intervention in response to 47 years of threats against his country and Israel, also considering it a threat due to its nuclear weapons.
"We did everything. Their navy is gone. The Iranians never wanted to admit the obvious: to keep producing missiles, but we destroyed their ability to threaten the United States. Their missiles practically no longer exist," he stated.
Trump also confirmed that the U.S. military presence in the region will last "another two to three weeks," to achieve "strategic objectives." He added that the U.S. will "hit them very hard," their leaders are dead, and they will continue to target their power plants and oil to "end their sinister threat."
In his speech, which lasted about twenty minutes, Trump reiterated that Iran "has been devastated militarily and economically" and that it "will take them a long time to rebuild" its entire structure. "They have rejected all agreements (for peace). Their missiles are practically exhausted or disabled," he emphasized.
"Collectively, these actions will weaken the Iranian army, annihilate their ability to support terrorist groups, and prevent them from building a nuclear bomb," Trump added. He also pointed out that "from the first day of my presidential campaign, in both terms, I committed to preventing Iran from accessing nuclear weapons. In the last 47 years, they have committed horrible, bloody, and many atrocities. Their air force has been defeated."
