The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Thursday that his government has postponed for 10 days the attacks on Iranian energy facilities.
“At the request of the Iranian government, please allow this statement to serve as proof that I am pausing for 10 days the period of destruction of energy facilities until Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 p.m., Miami time,” said Trump on the Truth Social network, cited by CNN and CBS News and reported by the Argentine News Agency.
“The talks continue and, despite erroneous statements to the contrary by the 'fake news' and others, they are going very well,” he assured.
The current pause was set to expire on Friday.
Trump's post came shortly after the markets closed this afternoon.
Last Monday, Trump wrote on Truth Social that based on the “tone and character” of the “deep, detailed, and constructive talks” with Iran, “which will continue throughout the week, I have instructed the Department of War to postpone all and any military attacks against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a period of five days, subject to the success of ongoing meetings and discussions.”
Trump promised to “unleash hell” on Iran if the talks do not lead to an agreement.
During a cabinet meeting on Thursday, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff stated that the United States had offered Iran, through negotiators, a 15-point proposal to achieve a peace agreement.
Witkoff indicated that he would not provide details on these points.
