FBI Warns of Possible Iranian Drone Attack on California

A joint military attack by the United States and Israel against Iran, initiated on February 28, triggered a major escalation across the Middle East, leading to missile exchanges, an increase in casualties, and broad political and security repercussions.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States has recently warned police departments in California that Iran might retaliate for the U.S. attacks by launching drones against the country's west coast, ABC News reported, citing a source of its own.

«Recently, we have obtained information that, in early February 2026, Iran allegedly aspired to carry out a surprise attack using unmanned aerial vehicles from an unidentified vessel off the coast of U.S. territory, specifically against unspecified targets in California, in the event that the United States launches attacks against Iran,» the alert stated.

However, the alert also added that authorities «do not have additional information about the timing, method, target, or perpetrators of this alleged attack».

The FBI warning did not specify how or when vessels carrying attack drones could approach the U.S. continental territory closely enough.

The warning came just as the Trump administration was planning its offensive against Iran, according to the report, which is reproduced by Xinhua, for which the Argentine News Agency is a subscriber.
