The United States announced this Friday that an Executive Board will oversee the new Government of Gaza and will be composed, among others, by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair; Secretary of State Marco Rubio; White House envoy Steve Witkoff; and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of President Donald Trump. The list is completed by Marc Rowan, CEO of Apollo Global Management; Roberto Gabriel, Trump's advisor; and Ajay Banga, president of the World Bank. According to the White House, each member of this Executive Board will assume specific portfolios, which include 'strengthening governance capacity, regional relations, reconstruction, attracting investment, securing large-scale financing, and mobilizing capital.' It was also announced that the High Representative for Gaza will be Bulgarian Nickolay Mladenov, who was his country's Foreign Minister and UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process. It was also indicated that Jasper Jeffers, a US Army Special Operations Command, will head the International Stabilization Force (ISF), the UN contingent that must guarantee the future security and demilitarization of Gaza, as stipulated by Trump's peace plan. The announcement of the composition of the Executive Board comes after the White House announced this week the second phase of Trump's peace plan for Gaza, which involves the formation of a technocrat government in the Strip and the disarmament of Hamas. The announced names will be in charge of executing the plans of the Peace Board, a commission chaired by Trump himself that oversees the implementation of the plan for the enclave. The Board will also oversee the new Gazan government, known as the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, which will be made up of 15 members and led by engineer Ali Shaaz. The first phase of the peace plan, which began in October, involved a ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and the entry of humanitarian aid into the enclave, but since then hundreds of Palestinians have died in Israeli attacks. This second phase contemplates the formation of a new government in the enclave, which must be made up of Palestinians who are not members of Hamas, the Islamist group that must be disarmed, according to US stipulations.
